i have friends who tell me about their relationships. sometimes about the troubles of their relationships, sometimes about the happy moments of their relationships. i listen. laugh when i need to, give a pat on the back if i need to, be sad if i have to, cringe if i have to, etc. some of my friends even ask for advice. as if i knew what to do, i've never been in a relationship before.
i talked to one of those friends recently, just last night. we talked about relationships as a means to catch up on each other. i think it is standard operating procedure: ask how life is, how school is, then how the love life is. after telling my part, she tells me:
"i really don't understand how you can't have anyone liking you? you're so beautiful!"
and i laugh, then i say,
"i really don't know too."
i kept the smile on my face last night, changed the topic to be about her...
but i knew i was crying inside.
