these little story books, as harmless as they seem, can actually do so much to affect a young child's mind. In fact, colonizers used children's literature to conquer their conquest. Yep yep...getting ito the "brown monkey" youth's head as early as possible. It is in this context that we can say that children's books = brainwashing. think of it. just think of it, okay? why are there kids storybooks anyway? they're surely not just for pure entertainment. They tell you a story, instill in you a little lesson, a little something to remember. Now this little something can come discreetly or right smack in your face. This is why parents or those who take care of children make use of storybooks! Storybooks, especially when well chosen, can brainwash their kids...in a good way (of course).

Stories such as Og Uhog and Lili Tutuli, teach our kids about body sanitation...Dindo Pundido and Si Putot, teach our kids to love themselves for who they are... Ang Mahiwagang Kyutiks ni Mama and Papel de Liha teach our kids to look up to their mothers... Ang Madyik Silya ni Titoy and Ang Pambihirang Buhok ni Racquel teach our kids to make friends with those who are handicapped or are affected by sickness...there are so many more!

This is why we should really be careful in writing children's story books. They are a big chunk of the influence kids (our hope, our future) receive. Remember, these kids are in their molding years.

Why the children's books craze? It just so happens to be part of my filipino paper. hehehe.
